The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, point out which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular host company for your domain address is the easiest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be handled on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, so, in case you wish to edit any one of these records, you are going to be able to do it via their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain address point out the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the domain name you are attempting to reach. This way the site you will see is going to be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain address has at least 2 NS records. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what type a host company will use depends exclusively on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

The innovative Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our cloud hosting packages, allows you to control the name servers of every domain registered through us with only a few mouse clicks, so even though you may haven't had a hosting plan or a domain name before, you will not encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and will allow you to modify the NS records of any domain or even a number of domain addresses together. In addition we provide you with the ability to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each and every domain name registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you will use the child NS to point the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to direct the domain to their system. Different from other providers, we don't charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.
